One of Werribee’s major battles of recent times; of trying to ensure that development of Melton would not result in the Werribee River becoming a sewer, has been won according to Cr Neville Hudson, shire president.

November 27, 1985

A government announcement on a controversial drug testing centre for Werribee is expected within the next few weeks. Legislation controlling the use of animals at such centres is expected to be introduced this week.

November 29, 1995

Many Werribee families are facing a bleak Christmas this year because of the burden of paying off home mortgage loans, a welfare worker said last week. A financial counsellor at Werribee Family Services said some people trying to pay off housing loans would find it easier paying rent.
