As part of Wyndham 2040, Mercy Paramena talks about her life in Tarneit and hopes for the future.
Where do you belong in Wyndham?
I’ve lived in Tarneit for more than six years. It’s very family friendly and has a warm community feel.
What’s your favourite story about this place?
I enjoy different parts of Tarneit. The walking paths and the grasslands by the Werribee River are a great way to relieve stress and I now take my three-year old nephew down there. My favourite spot is a hidden park next to Geoffrey Terrace. This park is a mix of country and contemporary lifestyle. It has amazing scenery with wild grass, a cattle farm in the background, and you can hear the sound of frogs croaking in the evening – that’s what I love about Wyndham.
What do you hope Wyndham will be like in 2040?
I hope there will be more community engagement and improvement of our city by that time. There’s a lot of population growth on the way and we need housing, recreational facilities, public transport and jobs to cater for new and existing residents, both now and into the future. We must have an achievable plan to follow so we can create a productive and self-sufficient Wyndham.
