October 2, 1974

The financial troubles incurred by giant land developer Cambridge Credit will not retard the development of Werribee and Laverton, according to a prominent developer. Cambridge “owns” such areas around Werribee and Laverton as Point Cook Homestead, Western Gardens Estate and Forsythe Estate at Little River, totalling 3500 acres.

October 3, 1984

A concept plan for development of 22 hectares of parkland at Werribee South has been approved in principle by the Werribee council. The area, known as Grahams Land, is undeveloped and has significant areas of remnant saltmarsh and wetland vegetation.

20 years ago

September 28, 1994

The Victorian Football Association last week gave Werribee the thumbs up to join the revamped state league which will kick-off in 1995. VFA general manager Martin Stillman said that while the announcement had yet to be made official, Werribee would merge to become part of a new Geelong regional team.

September 29, 2004

Wyndham mayor Henry Barlow has labelled the behaviour of adults who smoke in their vehicles while children are onboard as “criminal”. Cr Barlow voiced his opinion on the smoking debate after Wyndham council passed its substance abuse action plan at a meeting on Monday.
