July 31, 1974

Residents of a high-priced Werribee estate are locked in battle with the Housing Commission over its plan to build services homes on the estate. The commission planned to build 20 small homes on the estate for Royal Australian Air Force officers. The commission bought 20 blocks in the Davis estate at Tyrone Street between the highway and the railway line at an average of $10,445, to build 12- and 13-square homes for RAAF officers.

August 1, 1984

Werribee has been left off the next Telecom Western Suburbs community phone book and the locals are furious. For the first time this year, an unlikely alliance of the local ALP, Liberal Party and shire council is working together to fight the exclusion.

July 28, 2004

Werribee police will walk off the job today in protest at a critical shortage of officers they say is crippling the Princes Highway station. They will hold talks with Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon at a stop- work meeting at the Werribee Cultural Centre to demand the urgent deployment of 26 officers to boost thinning ranks or risk further industrial action.
