May 15, 1974

Plans by Melton Sewerage Authority to construct a large sewage treatment works adjacent to the Werribee River a short distance upstream from Cobbledicks Ford are seen by Werribee Shire Council as a threat to the river.

May 16, 1984

Werribee Shire Council has lent its support “in principle” to relocating the Newmarket Saleyards in Werribee Shire. Shire president Cr John Gibbons said in a press release many appropriate sites existed. He said Werribee was “ideal”.
