Parents of Werribee High School students overwhelmingly supported principal Mr A. Swan last Thursday night in his moves to enforce his standards of behaviour and discipline at the school. The meeting also voted to set up a study group of the parties concerned and impartial people with specialist knowledge in the subject to endeavour to arrive at guidelines for future harmonious operation of the school.

The war of words between Werribee MLA Ken Coghill and the shire council has hotted up. Dr Coghill said on Friday that many of the councillors elected as independents were really Liberal councillors. He said ratepayers were sick of the shire’s Liberal councillors always begging to the state and federal governments but never doing anything themselves.

Injured Werribee people are being unnecessarily traumatised by Werribee Mercy Hospital’s decision to bring in taxi drivers from out of town rather than engage a local cab company. The hospital exclusively uses Silver Top Taxis to transport patients, shunning local companies. Werribee resident Larraine Walsh has called on the hospital to use the Black Cab or West Suburban taxi companies instead.

Werribee detectives are on the hunt for a man after a brutal sexual assault in Tarneit. A woman was walking her dog near the corner of Thomas Carr Drive and Morris Road between 7.15 and 7.30pm on Thursday, April 21, when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her by the throat. Her assailant then knocked her to the ground with a heavy blow to the head, before sexually assaulting her.
