Werribee Centrals put forth finals credentials

Werribee Centrals has edged its way into the VTCA west A1 finals picture with one round to go.

The Centurions moved into the top four, 0.66 points ahead of fifth-placed Kingsville Baptists after a 55-run first innings win over Sunshine Heights at Ainsworth Reserve on Saturday.

Having posted a mere 155, the Centurions defended with aplomb, bowling the Heights out for just 100.

They also managed to pick up some bonus points, batting again to make 4-148.

The outlook is not so rosy for Wyndham Vale, however.

The Falcons fell 26 runs short to a red hot St Andrews and it will take a miracle for them to feature in the finals now.

They were all out for 155 in search of the Saints’ total of 181.

Import Tyler McGladdery was the stand-out for the Falcons with 51.

In west B1, Seabrook has gate-crashed the top four after pummelling Williamstown Imperials by 154 run on first innings. This came on the back of 5-13 from Hitesh Bavarva.

The Brookers’ move up to fourth came at the expense of Point Cook, despite it having a stirring one-wicket win over West Newport.
