A 22-year-old Werribee man has had his car impounded after being detected driving at 192km/h in a 110km/h zone with three-year-old child in the car.
State Highway Patrol (North) members were horrified after stopping a P-plater for speeding on the Golbourn at Wahring this morning.
The P-plate driver was travelling south on the Goulburn Valley Freeway when he was noticed by police about 11.30am.
Police allege they detected him driving at 192km/h in a 110km/h zone.
After the man stopped, police found his partner and three-year-old daughter were also travelling in the vehicle.
His car was impounded for 30 days and he will have to pay $906 towing and storage costs to get it back.
The man is expected to be charged on summons for various driving offences.
“We are absolutely horrified that a person could have so little regard for the safety of not only himself, but his young family and the rest of the community,” said State Highway Patrol (North’s) Senior Sergeant Geoff Joshua.
“It is lucky for him that we intercepted him when we did.”
The man was caught as part of Operation Furlong, which is a statewide road policing operation that will run throughout the long weekend into the early hours of Wednesday morning.
