New dealership drives car precinct growth

The final piece in the puzzle of the motor traders’ precinct is in place as Peter Davey Toyota and Suzuki prepares to move to a new $13 million site on Old Geelong Road.

After trading at Watton Street for 10 years, the retailer – now known as Werribee Toyota and Suzuki – will move to the new site early next year, joining a full range of car retailers.

The new dealership showroom and service centre is 30 metres tall and covers 10,200 square metres – three times Peter Davey’s current site.

Werribee Toyota and Suzuki dealer principal Ben Galea said moving to the new precinct would help showcase what the brand has to offer clients.

“At our current site, we only have people coming to see us when they want to see specific cars we have on sale. Now, moving to this precinct, we’ll be able to reach people shopping for a car with nothing specific in mind,” Mr Galea said.

Employing 85 people, the new dealership and service centre will have two separate showrooms, boasting 26 car bays and acting as a one-stop shop for all servicing needs.

Mr Galea said the investment in the new centre showed that, while Toyota is ceasing manufacturing cars in Australia in 2017, Werribee Toyota is still committed to the brand and continues its presence in the community.

“We will still sell all the Toyota favourites; from smaller cars, such as the Corolla and Yaris, all the way to larger vehicles such as the commercial Hilux and Land Cruisers.”
