Young firefighter’s burning desire to achieve

A Werribee teen will battle it out alongside some of the state’s top junior CFA members at the national fire championships from next week.

Aaron Savory, 14, will be one of 18 junior firefighters representing the CFA at the championships at Myuna Bay in New South Wales from Monday until October 1.

“I’m nervous but excited,” said Aaron, who is in year 8 at MacKillop College.

“The people are friendly, it’s fun and I do interesting things, like shooting water.”

Aaron joined the CFA last year following his older brother as a volunteer for the Werribee brigade.

Mum Sandra says she’s proud of Aaron’s achievements in such a short time. “CFA Werribee is such a family-oriented brigade and I’m so pleased he gets to experience all these things,” she said.
