My Wyndham: Susi Tate

Susi Tate, 41, is a professional psychic and performer who moved to Williams Landing late last year. She tells Charlene Macaulay about her psychic ability, her work as a Pink impersonator and why west is best.

What’s your connection to the Wyndham area?

I moved here from Craigieburn in November. Everybody’s friendly and everything is readily available in this area. In Craigieburn, we didn’t even have our own shopping centre until last year.

When did you realise you were psychic?

I’ve always known, but it wasn’t until I went to school that I realised other people couldn’t do what I could do. I’ve been able to see spirits forever.

Does psychic ability run in your family?

Yes, on both sides. My cousin owns a paranormal investigation company, and on Mum’s side, my aunt, my grandma and my son are also psychic.

Everyone has the ability to see spirits, most just don’t use it. For example, we all have legs and theoretically can run marathons, but we don’t all do it.

What do your clients usually come to you for?

People generally come to me to reconnect with a spirit that’s passed away. If someone’s died, they want to know they’ve made it across okay.

You get the occasional, ‘I want to know where the will is’; or ‘there’s something missing, I want to know who took it’.

The other big thing is love; who their perfect partner is or when their love will come along.

At Christmas time, the question I get asked most is, ‘Is this relationship going to last?’ People want to know whether it’s worth buying a Christmas present!

What would you say to people who say they don’t believe in psychics?

It happens all the time. Generally, I can give someone information pretty much straight away [to prove my ability] but everybody’s entitled to their own opinion.

I understand you’re also a Pink impersonator. How long have you been doing that for?

Professionally, I’ve been doing Pink for six years. We’ve got the biggest, most successful Pink tribute show in the world. We’re the only one that does aerial [stunts]. I don’t know if we’re going to continue doing it because I’ve been doing it for so long now.

I’ve been performing for 20 years, and I’ve done everything from host a TV show to working on stage – everything. It’s a great release for me, performing. I also do corporate gigs and Morning Melodies. I do one show, Sister Act, with another local girl and I’ve also just put together a Bette Midler showgirl show.
