Point Cook’s Jayla Tran is a rising star on the tennis court.
The seven-year-old was recently named MLC “Hot Shot of the Year” in recognition of her dedication to the sport.
The competition recognised 12 top juniors, with one crowned the overall Hot Shot at an awards night during the Australian Open.
Jayla said the contest had helped her fine-tune her tennis skills and had given her the chance to watch some of the best players in the world compete at the Open.
“We’ve had the chance to see some of our favourite players on court,” she said.
“We will have a hit on Rod Laver Arena and hang out with Alicia Molik.” Jayla’s prize included $5000, one year of free tennis coaching and a visit from Molik for a private lesson with three friends.
