Originally a pastime of the rich, ping pong is now being used in the fight to save the world’s most exploited people.
A group of Wyndham men will join Australia’s 24-hour Ping Pong-A-Thon to raise money for charities supporting people in Third World countries hit by the human trafficking trade.
Organiser Adrian Rowse says dozens of men will compete in the Werribee Baptist Church event on November 15 and 16, hoping to contribute to a total of $100,000.
“The Ping Pong-A-Thon is a quirky, fun way for men to start getting involved in caring for young people.”
Mr Rowse, who has worked for a charity in Thailand, said he saw the huge challenges that so many young people face as a result of their being born into extreme poverty.
