Tarneit’s Sarah Dobie second in national aquathon

Sarah Dobie grabbed second place in the junior elite category of the Australian National Aquathon Championships at Lake Mulwala on Saturday.

The 14-year-old from Tarneit conquered choppy waters and hot conditions to complete the 2.5-kilomtere run, one-kilometre swim and a second 2.5-kilometre run in 39 minutes.

Dobie backed up on Sunday for another second, this time in the gruelling junior elite female category in a sprint triathlon, consisting a 750-metre swim, 20-kilometre ride and five-kilometre run.

Dobie, coached by Dave Huggett at the Southern Cross Tri Club in Ballarat, has her sights set on the junior national triathlon series.
