St Andrews primary brothers on road to health

ST Andrews Primary School pupils, and brothers, Hamish, Joel and Ethan (pictured) jumped at the chance to ride their bikes to school last Monday as part of Ride to School Day activities.

This Friday is national Ride to School Day and students from 15 Wyndham schools ride, scoot or walk to take part in the annual event.

Deputy mayor Glenn Goodfellow says encouraging children to ride their bikes more often can help prevent diabetes and obesity.

“In addition to being great for your physical and mental health, it [riding] also helps to keep cars off our roads, and helps give children a great sense of independence.

“With most children travelling such a short distance to get to school, riding can be a great chance for them to get some exercise and to socialise with other children.”
