THE fourth annual Padamati Sandhya Raagaalu function will be held at the Wyndham Leisure Centre in Werribee this Saturday in celebration of Ugadi, the New Year for the Telugu-speaking Indian community.
About 1000 people are expected to attend the festive event – organised by the West Telugu Forum – which will feature four hours of entertainment and a variety of cultural presentations from 4pm.
Manor Lakes estate project manager, the Dennis Family Corporation, has added its support to the event.
“We are delighted to become a platinum sponsor of this growing event in our local neighbourhood,” said Manor Lakes marketing executive, Irene Najdecki.
“It is our hope to assist the West Telugu Forum in building on the great success it has already achieved with this function over the past three years.”
West Telugu Forum committee member Sarma Pochincharla said the aims of the event included promoting and educating the community about the rich Telugu Indian culture and developing amicable and positive relationships amongst local community members.
“Although we are a relatively small group, the number of Telugu families living in the western suburbs of Melbourne is growing quickly and there is a need for us all to come together, to get to know each other, to unite and collaborate, and to prosper.
“We also understand it is our duty and responsibility to serve our community and encourage harmony by our active participation.”
In addition to the Dennis Family Corporation, other key supporters of the event include Wyndham Council and Commonwealth Bank.
