THE Wyndham Council vision for Werribee city centre is taking shape, with the project’s next stage to be completed in months.
Wedge Street pedestrian bridge, which links the city centre and Wyndham Park, is in the final construction stages.
The council has also appointed an operator for a cafe in the kiosk at Wedge Street Piazza, and completed archaeological, flora and fauna, and geotechnical studies at Riverbank Promenade.
Mayor Kim McAliney said changes in the city centre in the past 12 months, and the completion of the piazza, meant residents could see plans taking shape.
“The piazza cafe, gateway development and Riverbank Promenade will add to the exciting buzz in the city centre, and
extensive tree planting along Synnot Street will create a green boulevard on one of Werribee’s major thoroughfares,” Cr McAliney said.
“The plan is to transform the city centre to provide more jobs, places to live and do business, and a great place to shop and socialise.”
