WHEN Katherine Axisa lost her father to cancer at the end of March, she vowed to take part in fund-raising activities for the Cancer Council.
So when the new mother discovered her friend Narelle Jarvis was planning to host a Biggest Morning Tea, she jumped at the chance to
take part.
The friends will host their event on Saturday, in honour of Ms Axisa’s father.
Ms Axisa said she was grateful to be able to honour her father’s memory while giving back to the Cancer Council.
She said his illness was a difficult time for her family, as she was pregnant with her first child, Grace.
“It was difficult being pregnant and wanting him to see this child and being unsure.
“[The doctors] were saying that he was terminally ill but they didn’t have a real timeline … everyone’s case is different.
“Thankfully he did get to meet [Grace] but only for a short period of time.As soon as he passed I said to myself I would become involved in fund-raising events.”
