WRFL: Hoppers Crossing Warriors on fire

HOPPERS Crossing turned Hogans Road Reserve into a slaughterhouse, annihilating North Footscray by 128 points in the Western Region Football League division 1 on Saturday.

The Warriors burst to a 30-point quarter-time lead, doubled it to 60 by half-time and ran rampant in the second half with 13 goals to three.

Tough-as-nails onballer Aaron Ramsay, a boom recruit in summer, did as he pleased en route to best-afield honours. Young forward Thomas Jehle was the main strike weapon with six goals, while in-form Aaron Williams booted five and Kade Carey four.

The Warriors, who hold an 8-2 record, come face to face with second-placed Altona Vikings in one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the season at Grant Reserve on Saturday.

There is a belief the Warriors have turned the top-flight into a three-horse race. This is their best chance to show if they have made inroads on pacesetters Spotswood and Altona in the past month.
