WERRIBEE Devils young gun Michael Luxford and former Werribee junior Dante Exum helped underdogs Australia reach the gold medal play-off game at this year’s FIBA under-17 world championships in Kaunas, Lithuania.
The Emus lost to the powerful USA 95-62 in the tournament decider on Monday morning (Melbourne time) to finish with a silver medal, but showed how bright the future of basketball could be in this country.
Exum set the competition alight with his athleticism. He finished with an average of 17.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game to make the prestigious All-Tournament starting five.
