WERRIBEE Devils have bowed out of the Victorian Basketball League Big V men’s division 1 finals with a 94-87 elimination final loss to McKinnon Cougars at the Werribee Sports and Fitness Centre on Saturday night.
Trailing by 16 after three periods, the Devils attempted a miracle comeback in the last quarter, but fell short by seven.
The young team, coached by Paul Jones, struggled to contain former NBL players Marcus Timmons (37 points and 12 rebounds) and Axel Dench (23 points and seven rebounds).
The Devils’ standouts were Josh Oswald (14 points, 10 rebounds), Mark Rizza (17 points) and Kristian Rocci (13 points, eight rebounds).
