DEVELOPERS of the multimillion-dollar Wyndham Harbour project say construction of houses will begin within two months.
Earthworks have been completed at the Werribee South site and construction of the marina is well under way.
Project developer Sonya Miller said she hoped the harbour would become a world-class lifestyle, recreation and boating hub.
She said the project would feature parks, walking and bike trails and a central marina square retail
precinct, with restaurants, cafes and speciality stores.
The $440million project includes 200 housing lots, 200 apartments and 27 terrace houses that will incorporate environmentally sustainable initiatives. The harbour will also feature two beaches to the north and south.
Ms Miller said housing would have a strong focus on energy efficiency and each house would have a 1.5-kilowatt solar panel.
The development will be completed in stages until 2015.
■ Planning Minister Matthew Guy has announced the government will look into the possibility of a Sydney-style commuter ferry service between Werribee South and the Docklands, stopping at Point Cook, Altona and Williamstown. He said the study would be completed in three months and a draft report presented to State Parliament by the end of the year.
