WRFL: Former Geelong star Cameron Mooney signs for Glenorden Hawks

GLENORDEN has fired the first significant shots of the Western Region Football League off-season.

The Hawks used their Twitter account only minutes ago to reveal two massive signings that will shake up the division 2 competition.

Triple AFL premiership star Cameron Mooney and former teammate Kent Kingsley have signed on to play with the club next season.

Mooney, 32, made his AFL debut with North Melbourne in 1999, where he played in a premiership in his rookie season.

He moved to Geelong a year later, spending the best part of a decade as the No. 1 forward in one of the greatest teams of all, winning premierships in 2007 and ’09.

He finished with 297 goals in 221 games.

Next year, he will pull on the brown and gold of the Hawks.

Kingsley was a star in his own right.

The key position player was a goal scoring machine, finishing with 239 goals in 125 games and winning the Cats goalkicking award four years in a row.

He, too, will call Kookaburra Avenue home in 2013.
