Three stabbed in Point Cook as family feud turns violent

POLICE are seeking witnesses to a violent family feud that left three people bleeding from stab wounds in a Point Cook driveway.

Investigators said knives were first drawn on a man as he was getting out of his car when he arrived home about 10.30pm last Tuesday.

Eight relatives, who were waiting in another car, emerged from the dark and assaulted him outside the house in Waves Drive.

Police said two others were stabbed when those inside the house heard the attack and came out to assist.

Up to 12 people were involved in what police said was the escalation of an extensive family dispute.

Detective Senior Constable Trevor Renden said police arrived to find three people with stab wounds.

“Uniform branch police found three victims who had been stabbed in numerous places, including chest, back, hands and face,” he said.

“Some of the offenders assaulted their extended family members with knives and other weapons when more than eight, and up to 12, people attended in relation to a feud that was going on.”

Among the wounded was a Point Cook man, 29, who was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with stab wounds to his face and head.

Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman Susannah Wilson said the man was in a serious but stable condition. Paramedics also took two women, aged 30 and 26, suffering cuts and bruising but in a stable condition to The Alfred hospital.

Detective Senior Constable Renden said police were conducting an extensive investigation in a bid to catch the offenders. He said the victims had since been released from hospital and were providing police with information.

“Now it’s a matter of conducting an investigation to ascertain exactly what happened.” Witnesses to the incident are encouraged to make contact with police.
