CELEBRITY chef Jamie Oliver, the Good Foundation and the state government have brought the battle against the bulge to Wyndham. Jamie’s Ministry of Food was last week launched as part of the state’s new attack on obesity — the Victorian Healthy Eating Enterprise.
Wyndham is one of 14 “at-risk” municipalities where the initiative will kick-start healthy eating and exercise programs. Wyndham has among the highest rates of obesity in the west, with 23.9 per cent of men and 18.9 per cent of women considered obese.
The Good Guys Hoppers Crossing’s Fab DeCesaris (pictured with Teagan Bellingham and her children Sereia and Harlen) said the program would encourage home-cooked meals which are critical to keeping families healthy.
