Arrests after raids on Werribee, Hoppers Crossing homes

TWO men have been arrested after firearms and drugs were seized during raids in Hoppers Crossing and Werribee last night.

About 5.30pm, Altona North police executed two warrants at houses in Kathleen Court, Hoppers Crossing and Hogan Grove in Werribee.

A Hoppers Crossing man and a Werribee man have been charged with trafficking methylamphetamine, commonly known as ice, and other charges including firearms offences and cannabis possession.

Both are expected to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court today.

At the Hoppers Crossing house, police seized drugs, money, a gun, two imitation firearms and a trail bike valued at $10,000.

In Werribee, the haul included methylamphetamine and parts of a firearm.

Altona North’s Sergeant Greg Teesdale said the arrests came after a seven-month investigation.

‘‘These operations are ongoing with the aim of minimising drug use in our community,’’ he said.
