Shot fired in Hoppers Crossing suburban pub spat

A GUNSHOT was fired during an argument between a group of men outside a pub
in Hoppers Crossing last night, police say.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested and is being questioned over the
confrontation outside the Werribee Plaza Tavern just before 11pm.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said an argument broke out between two men
inside the pub, on the corner of Heaths and Derrimut roads.

One of the men left the pub and returned a short time later with another man
and a gun, and they waited outside the pub for the 26-year-old to leave.

A fight then broke out between the three men, during which a shot was
fired.

The 26-year-old Hoppers Crossing man was struck to the head with the butt of
a gun and suffered a cut to his head. He was taken to Werribee Hospital in a
stable condition.

Police arrested a 31-year-old Laverton man at the scene and he is being
questioned over the attack.
