Established in 1997, Thomas Carr College, sitting on more than 10 hectares, has state-of-the-art facilities consisting of a newly built middle school science centre, art and design rooms, technology laboratories, a well-resourced information centre, and drama and music rooms.
We also have a fully-equipped gymnasium, a first-class football and cricket field, and eight multipurpose courts for tennis, basketball, hockey and cricket.
This year, as part of a 10-year master building plan, we’ve started construction on the first stage of a year 7 and 8 centre which will provide 20 classrooms and extensive flexible learning spaces. A new senior school, performing arts centre and a student services precinct are part of the plan.
A new partnership was formed this year with Australian Catholic University, enabling our students to participate in the Uni Step-Up program. We offer advanced standing studies, a full first-year university subject in the degrees of Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Nursing.
We have enjoyed discovering talented acting students as they took to the stage for three nights at Werribee Cultural Centre in a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. These performances were a culmination of tireless work over many months by teachers and students and their efforts received well deserved praise from the community.
Last year, we initiated an iPad program, believing that information communication technology is an essential aspect of our life and culture and will improve and energise educational opportunities and prepare students for life beyond school.
