TWO men have been denied bail after police seized methylamphetamine during raids in Werribee and Hoppers Crossing.
The pair, aged 36 and 37, were arrested last Wednesday after police executed warrants at houses in Kathleen Court, Hoppers Crossing, and Hogan Grove, Werribee.
Prosecutor John Riordan said the raids came after police tapped 200 calls on the Werribee man’s phone.
Detectives from Altona North intercepted the calls over a two-month period this year.
The men faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday on charges of conspiring to traffic methylamphetamine, commonly known as ‘ice’, and were remanded until February.
Other charges included firearms offences and cannabis possession.
At the Hoppers Crossing house, police seized methylamphetamine, money, a gun, two imitation firearms and a trail bike valued at $10,000.
The haul in Werribee included methylamphetamine and parts of a firearm.
Sergeant Greg Teesdale of Altona North police said the arrests came after a seven-month investigation.
“These operations are ongoing with the aim of minimising drug use in our community,” Sergeant Teesdale said.
Both men were remanded to reappear in court on February 14 next year.
Lawyers for the accused men will lodge applications for bail in the next two weeks.
