EIGHT people have been charged over a violent family feud which left three people bleeding from stab wounds in a Point Cook driveway.
The group of eight allegedly assaulted the three victims outside a Point Cook house about 10.30pm on October 2.
Police allege knives were first drawn on a woman when she was getting out of her car as she arrived home.
It’s also alleged the group of eight were waiting in cars before they emerged from the dark and stabbed her.
Police said two others were stabbed when those inside the house heard the attack and came outside to assist.
Detective Senior Constable Trevor Renden said police arrived on the scene to find three people with stab wounds.
‘‘Uniform branch police found three victims who had been stabbed in numerous places, including chest, back, hands and face,’’ he said.
Detectives executed five search warrants over the past three weeks in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
They charged three Point Cook men aged 18, 19 and 24, a Point Cook woman, 25, a Sanctuary Lakes man, 28, a Sanctuary Lakes woman, 27, and a Hillside man, 33.
They have all been bailed to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on January 8.
Detective Senior Constable Renden said the charges had resulted from an extensive investigation. He said the victims provided police with information after they were released from hospital.
Among the wounded was a Point Cook man, 29, who was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with stab wounds to his face and head.
Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman Susannah Wilson said the man was in a serious but stable condition. Paramedics also took two women, aged 30 and 26, suffering cuts and bruising but in a stable condition to The Alfred hospital.
Wyndham’s Acting Inspector Damien Christensen said he had seen a reduction in the number of assaults reported that he believes had been achieved through increased police patrols as part of Operation BIA.
‘‘We encourage people to report all assaults, particularly if they are family violence related so that we can work to resolve the issues through intervention’’, he said.
“These charges are the result of the excellent work of Wyndham CIU throughout this investigation.”
