SPARKING imaginations, firing up passions and exploding misconceptions are all on the agenda in next week’s Victoria University Family Science Spectacular.
The Professor Science Troupe, a group of eight science and education students, will create explosions and tricks with fire, among other science demonstrations in the free 80-minute show. Foundation studies lecturer Nick Athanasiou says the showcase aims to inspire a love of science.
“We work with the audience to give them a hands-on experience, which is much more appealing than traditional high-brow science events. Their usual reaction after the first experiment is amazement.”
The event begins 6pm, Wednesday, December 5, at the VU Footscray Park campus, Building L, Level 1, Room 14 (next to the gym). Register at: sciencefamilynight@vu.edu.au or with Janet Grady on 9919 4492.
