POINT Cook survived a scare against Seabrook to wrap up second spot in its first season at Victorian Turf Cricket Association west B1 level.
The Warriors were never sitting comfortably in their chase for 169 until late heroics from the tail end inspired by Joe Farmer.
Farmer (71) arrived at the crease with the Warriors in trouble on 8-133.
He figured in match-winning partnerships with Jason Denton (17) and Raj Sandhu (12).
“He definitely got us over the line,” Warriors president Joe Polzella said.
“He came out when we were under the pump.
“We could’ve lost the game at any stage very quickly.
“It got to the point where we were eight or nine wickets down. Joe came in and just didn’t go bang, he put together a nice innings, very controlled innings.”
The Warriors cannot be dislodged from second place in the finals.
They opened up a 16-point gap on third-placed St Andrews with a game to go.
A home semi-final awaits at their first time of asking.
“It’s great to finish second in our first season in the VTCA,” Polzella said.
“We were going into the unknown to an extent.”
