Re: $52m Wyndham leisure centre ‘a waste’ (Weekly, March 6):

As usual, council got it wrong and ignored community input. At least these guys have seen with fresh eyes. We need new pools at Point Cook and Tarneit to cover existing and future populations. We need additional event facilities in both suburbs. The library doesn’t need to move, that’s a waste of money.

The events centre plans are making the venue worse, not better. That’s also a waste of money.

These two councillors are finally seeing through the bull. The community doesn’t need the events centre upgrade, nor the library move to that site, as it’s not fixing anything. We do need additional facilities like new pools and events centres other suburbs.

Re: ‘No plans’ for Point Cook Road duplication (Weekly, March 6):

There is no need for the duplication of roads. More road capacity means the numbers of cars will continue to increase. That’s why the Greens do not support the addition of more road infrastructure.

The investment in road infrastructure should be directed to better public transport, in the form of more buses to train stations, better cycle and walking infrastructure and better train services. Both the Liberal and Labor parties only talk and pander to the road lobby.
