WYNDHAM’S mix of nationalities will be on display as part of Cultural Diversity Week.
The municipality has an increasing number of migrants, the 2011 census revealing more than a third of residents were born overseas.
About 8000 residents were born in India, 6396 in the UK and 2485 in China.
Cr Gautam Gupta said the week was about showing cultural respect to Wyndham’s many nationalities.
Activities will include a community day at Truganina which will feature a match between African and Burmese soccer teams, and a multicultural fiesta during the Weerama Festival.
The fiesta will include cultural performances and food stalls. The community day is this Saturday from 10am- 2pm at Arndell Park Community Centre, 29 Federation Boulevard, Truganina. The fiesta is on Sunday, March 24 at Station Place, Werribee, between noon-4pm.
