WERRIBEE Centrals went into their clash with Thomson in the Geelong and District Netball League A grade with specific goals set out by their new coach Lina Iuta, who couldn’t attend the game for personal reasons.
Iuta arrived back to the club this week with the report card filled with ticks in every box, as the Centurions were in command throughout a 65-30 victory in a consistent four-quarter performance.
The defensive pressure in the ring was strong from Amanda Wilson and Noni McClure, and later Emma Richards, all working hard to keep Thomson’s goalshooters down on their usual output.
The Centurions’ mid-court worked hard on their defensive press and fed the new goaler combination of Mickayla Ward and best-on-court Ashlee Shacklock regularly and the attackers seized most opportunities.
Shacklock finished with 39 goals, while Ward made 26.
