Samurai success in karate titles

SAMURAI Karate, based in Laverton, Tarneit and Sunshine, claimed three gold, two silver and four bronze medals at the state AKF championships.

The 15-strong team from Samurai featured six first-time representatives at the championships.

Luke and Thomas Olsen fought it out for first and second in one of the strongest men’s divisions on the day, which featured Australian and Chilean representatives from last year’s world titles. Thomas emerged with the gold medal.

Jai Hunt continued his development by winning gold in kumite cadets and bronze in the kata.

Hunt has his sights set on the world titles later this year.

Andy Do showed no first time nerves, taking gold in the cadets under-52kg division.
