Environmental fine for recycler

A Laverton North recycling company has been fined more than $7000 for breaching environmental standards. The Environment Protection Authority issued an infringement to Norstar Recycling when traces of petroleum hydrocarbons were found in a dam on the premises. The EPA’s Robyn Box said seven Victorian companies received fines on April 10.

Pool to stay open year-round

Werribee Olympic Outdoor Pool will remain open all year, allowing residents to keep swimming while Wyndham Leisure and Events Centre is upgraded. From May 1 to October 31, the pool will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5.30-7.30am and 5-7pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 5-7pm and Saturday from 8-10am. Wyndham Council has spent $650,000 on upgrades to the pool, including a new heating system to make it more comfortable during winter.

‘Neighbours’ star to drop by studio

Actor Jenna Rosenow will visit Werribee’s Screen Actors studio this weekend to give students acting tips and workshop Neighbours scripts. Ms Rosenow, 21, studied at a Screen Actors school and made her debut on the show as Amber Turner earlier this year. She will visit the studio at 93 Watton Street on Saturday morning.
