SLOW starts are becoming a problem for Werribee Districts in the Victorian Amateur Football Association Premier B.
The Tigers have booted just one solitary goal in three first quarters this season.
They opened up with a goalless first term in Saturday’s 111-point loss to Old Trinity on the road at Daley Oval.
The travelling Tigers were never going to compete after trailing by 48 points at the first break.
Matthew Dean, Andrew Taylor and Adam Alifraco gave their all for the Tigers, but they still slumped to their heaviest loss of the season.
In division 3, Old Westbourne Grammarians could only keep pace with Elsternwick for a half at Elsternwick Park, before losing by 78 points.
The Warriors dominated the first term, but could not put the score on the board and only held a four-point lead at the first break.
Further inaccuracy in front of goal in the second and third terms inflated the losing margin.
Josh Lawn, Evan Karageorge and William Wright were best for the Warriors.
In division 4, Point Cook overturned a 37-point quarter-time deficit to beat the Northern Blues by 40 points.
The Blues were restricted to just 1.4 for the last three quarters as Dwight Ritchie, Mathew Smith and Jason Whitling took over for the Bulldogs.
Ricky Munn booted three for the winners.
