Lucy, Amitqu and Nikita (pictured) and their peers at Carranballac College are backing a campaign to clean up beaches, parklands and waterways. The college was one of 14 schools to hear environmentalist Tim Silverwood (also pictured) talk about his Take Three campaign during a recent visit to Wyndham. Mr Silverwood told students that if they each took three pieces of rubbish with them when they left a beach or park, they could slash the amount of plastic ending up in the ocean every year. The visit was organised by community groups including the Werribee River Association, Western Melbourne Catchment Network and Enviro West. Werribee River Association president John Forrester said Mr Silverwood’s visit reminded people that a large proportion of our rubbish was plastics.
