WYNDHAMVALE struggled to find a focal point in attack in a frustrating, low-scoring 22-point loss to Parkside in the Western Region Football League division 2 at Henry Turner Reserve on Saturday.
The Falcons could only rustle up seven goals for the day, Thomas Westhead leading the way as the lone multiple goalkicker with two.
Luke Klein-Breteler, Josh Van Der Munnik and player-coach Luke Dennerley fought it out for the Falcons, but the Magpies finished the game better on the back of a three-goal-to-one last term. It leaves the Falcons with a 3-2 win-loss record, already two games behind neighbours Glenorden and Manor Lakes.
Glenorden was merciless in its 196-point win over Albanvale on the road at Robert Bruce Reserve.
The Hawks amassed 24 goals to lead by 133 at half-time but took the foot off the pedal ever so slightly to not rub further salt into the Cobras wounds. Star recruit Damien Yze booted 10 goals for the Hawks, while Dash Baroli filed another best-on-ground performance, his third in five outings.
Manor Lakes comfortably accounted for Caroline Springs by 61 points at Howqua Reserve. The Storm sits alongside Glenorden as one of just two teams undefeated after five rounds.
That will all change on Saturday when the two meet in a top of the ladder clash at Heathdale Oval.
Sanctuary Lakes picked up its second win of the season by 20 points over a competitive Laverton Magpies at Featherbrook Reserve.
