Re: State budget: Point Cook boost at Sneydes Road works (Weekly, May 8):
What about the people in Tarneit? No wonder the last mayor was voted out! We in Tarneit have no infrastructure while the whingers in Point Cook now have double-lane road upgrades plus a third entrance to the freeway, while the majority of Tarneit residents lack footpaths, proper bus services and crappy single-lane roads. Wake up council!Anne
Anne, the people of the west need to vote in a competent government and not a Liberal one which is funding a container terminal to the west. This container terminal is to ease congestion in the inner west but will bring the container traffic out further to our estates. There is still a lack of investment in public transport options.

The council can’t now put their hand up and say “look what we did – how good are we at getting the state government money”, when they have caused the issue in allowing developers to build estates right up to existing single-lane goat tracks.

Re: NDIS funding ‘a great relief’ (Weekly, May 8):
We are so thankful to Julia Gillard for making this a reality. It will make a world of difference for people with a disability and their carers.

Re: PM urges CCTV in Werribee (Weekly, May 8):
What is it with a number of Melbourne councils refusing to install CCTV cameras? These cameras have been used to identify and apprehend so many criminals that there can be no question as to whether they should be placed wherever people congregate. These councillors would obviously prefer to place citizens at risk.
