WERRIBEE Centrals have found it difficult to pick up points on road trips to Bannockburn in the Geelong and District Football League Smiths Holden Cup.
It was no different on Saturday as the undermanned Centurions lost by 17 points at Victoria Park.
The Centurions seem to struggle on the long and wide dimensions of the ground, and missing players didn’t help their cause. Tyren Montebruno and Brad McNicol were sidelined and their absences were compounded by the late withdrawals of Matt Walsen and David Hall.
Centurions started with the opening two goals, but the Tigers had a quarter-time lead and held it until the end of the third.
The last term saw the Centurions hit the lead on the back of strong play from Michael Cassidy and Shaun McGuinness, with Matthew Taylor kicking five majors.
But the Tigers steadied for the win.
The third-placed Centurions play top-two outfit North Geelong at Keith Barclay Oval on Saturday.
