Woodies Warriors on mission

THREE Hoppers Crossing men will put their fitness to the test to raise money for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Peter Woods, Adam Jordan and Matthew O’Donnell have signed up to take part in the Ride to Conquer Cancer on October 26-27. They will cycle 200 kilometres from Albert Park to the Mornington Peninsula, camping overnight.

Mr Jordan (pictured) says the team, known as Woodies Warriors, took part last year. They hope to raise more than $20,000 for the centre.

“I came on board because I thought it was a worthwhile cause, given that one in two people will be diagnosed with this insidious disease,” he said. “I got back on board with the ride this year because I want to see what else we can do to help the Peter Mac centre.”

The team has been training for months, after finding last year’s ride challenging.

They are also organising a trivia night and silent auction at Mossfiel Hall on September 21 to help them reach their fund-raising goal.
