PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd appears to have cast doubt on the candidacy of diplomat Lisa Clutterham for preselection in Julia Gillard’s safe Labor seat of Lalor, in Melbourne south-western suburbs.
Ms Clutterham, 29, has come under some criticism for putting her hand up for Lalor – after conceding on ABC radio on Thursday that she had never lived in Melbourne, and had been a member of the Labor Party for less than a month.
In admitting she didn’t have a connection to the area in the interview, Ms Clutterham also said her partner “has family there and as a child he visited Werribee [in the Lalor electorate] on many Christmas holidays”.
