Bigger, better future for Werribee dairy centre

A NATIONAL research centre in Werribee has been expanded to provide its member companies with more space to discover new processing techniques and dairy products.

Opened in 2007, the Dairy Innovation Australia Centre on the Princes Highway involves companies including Bega and Murray-Goulburn, which account for 70 per cent of Australia’s milk production.

Their investment in the centre funds research into dairy manufacturing.

Chairman Peter Boyden said the expansion, which was unveiled on Monday, includes laboratories, a manufacturing pilot plant and culture production.

“Our expanded site will enable us to provide knowledge, capability and critical services to the industry and create opportunities to assist member companies achieve growth in markets in Australia and overseas,” he said.
