VFL: Werribee pair selected for AFL combine

TWO Werribee players have been invited to the NAB AFL draft combine in October.

Versatile tall Ben Brown and promising midfielder Luke McDonald are among 98 players who will ply their wares at the combine in the hope of being picked up by an AFL club at drafts later in the year.

Brown, recruited from Tasmanian State League club Glenorchy, has been one of the Tigers’ key contributors this season. He has played 13 senior games, kicked 17 goals – including five against Coburg in round six – and has proven versatile, spending time up forward, in the ruck or even down back. He is mobile and a strong mark.

Luke McDonald is the son of North Melbourne football chief Donald McDonald and will be taken by the Kangaroos with their first pick as a father-son selection. Donald played 155 games for the Roos.

Luke is rated as one of the top prospects in the draft and has played nine senior matches with the Tigers this season.
