Andrew Gilmore tragedy: Pain of loss ‘sometimes unbearable’

AS an interstate truck driver, long trips across parched highways
give Jayson Delia plenty of time to think. Sometimes he lets out a laugh
when his thoughts turn to happy memories shared with his stepson,
Andrew.

“I just laugh at some of the things we used to do together,” Mr
Delia said. “Nothing’s changed in the way I remember him, but he’s just
not here to talk about it.”

Mother Irene Gilmore said her son had touched the hearts of everyone he met.

“We had 17 years to cherish him, but he was taken away from us far
too soon,” she said. “I have to live with the loss of my son for the
rest of my life and this is the hardest thing our family has ever had to
deal with.”

Andrew’s family says the pain that plagues them every day is “sometimes unbearable”.
