WERRIBEE City claimed a 1-0 victory over Altona Magic in the FFV men’s state league 1 western derby at Galvin Park on Sunday.
The Bees were up against it for the most part, but capitalised on a
period of ascendancy late in the first half with the game’s only goal
through Julien Cassano.

It was a crucial win for the team’s bid to remain in the title race.
The Bees sit second, five points behind ladder leader Heidelberg
United, with three games to go. They face a must-win encounter away to
the Eastern Lions on Saturday at Gardiners Creek Reserve.
Hoppers Crossing was victorious 1-0 over Western Eagles in state league 4 west at Grange Reserve.
In state league 5 west, Point Cook moved to within a point of the top two with a 3-1 win over Altona North, while Truganina Hornets went down 3-2 to Sebastopol Vikings.
