Staff and volunteers at Werribee Open Range Zoo, including Rachel
Taylor (pictured), celebrated the wildlife hub’s 30th birthday
on August 3.
Presents and colourful pinatas were given to the zoo’s
animals to mark the special occasion.
The zoo, which has been visited by
more than 5 million people, opened its doors in 1983 and started as an
agistment area for animals from Melbourne Zoo.
Zoo director
Sally Lewis said it had come a long way.
“Thirty years is a wonderful
milestone and we are proud of what we have achieved in that time.”
