Kids go wild at Werribee Open Range Zoo

Young animal lovers can get up close and personal with wildlife at Werribee Open Range Zoo thanks to a new playgroup program.

More than 20 preschoolers and their parents visited the zoo for yesterday’s launch of Kinda Kinder, exploring walking trails, taking part in play and learning about the animals that live there.

Zoo spokeswoman Cathy Nixon says the 18-week program, devised by Victoria University teaching students, is focused on improving fine motor, literacy, language, numeracy and social skills.

The program is free for children of parents who are members of the zoo.
